More than ten years with a torch in hand.
Lucas has spent more than ten years welding. Before starting Cobb's in 2022, he welded in Central Florida's precast concrete and parking-structure industry, on large commercial jobs with tight schedules, inspectors and approved drawings. That work was welded to the AWS D1.1 structural steel code and checked by inspectors.
Today the shop handles everything from water and wastewater plant fabrication for utility contractors to plasma-cut production parts for other fabricators, custom gates and signs, and emergency equipment repairs.
The shop is set up to take a job from a drawing, or a rough sketch, all the way to a finished part. An STV CNC plasma table, a Piranha ironworker for punching and shearing, press brake and tube bending, saws and torches, and MIG, TIG and stick welding are all under one roof, with portable equipment for work that has to happen on site.
Cobb's works for contractors, utilities, farms, other fabrication shops and property owners. The work varies; the approach doesn't. Read the drawings carefully, ask questions early, quote clearly, and build it right.
Lucas's wife, Jill, keeps the office side running, so quotes, invoices and paperwork like certificates of insurance get handled without slowing down the shop.
